Our Story
Apex started with a simple frustration: too many homeowners getting overcharged, talked down to, or left waiting by big out-of-town companies.
Mark Vest set out to do it differently — a local shop where the owner shows up, does the work, and stands behind it. No call centers. No rotating crews. No surprise charges. Just a skilled neighbor who treats your home like his own.
Today, Apex is the team Columbia and Marion County families call first for plumbing, electrical, and painting — three trades, one trusted number.
Residential work is performed under Mississippi Residential Certificate #22742, held by Trenton Timothy Howe of the Apex crew.
What the Name Means
Same people, same phone number — if you've heard the name Associates, you've already found us.
Long before the service truck, Mark was a U.S. Navy pilot. He came up through a Navy summer program out of Ole Miss and flew the F-8 Crusader — the jet its pilots called the Million Dollar Baby — with two years in Vietnam, 1970–71. He also served aboard the carrier USS John F. Kennedy. That's where the habits come from: check it twice, do it by the book, and don't leave a job half-finished.
Service runs in the family. Mark's father, Harvey J. Vest, served in the U.S. Air Force — two generations in uniform before the family name ever went on a service truck.
That's why Apex is a veteran-owned business — something we're proud to put on the truck and on this page.
